Help…My Wife Wants Me To Install Our New Plasma Television with Surround
Sound…I am Not Very Handy…What Should I Do?

I know this sounds like an overwhelming task to you, however anyone, even
with only a modest understanding of basic tools and a little bit of help,
can install their own plasma television with surround sound in just a few
hours. This is what you will need:

1.. A plasma television with vga cables
2.. A plasma wall bracket
3.. A set of good speakers, no less than 3, for the best sound
4.. Speaker wire, this is only if your speakers don’t come with it, some
do and some don’t
5.. A stud finder
6.. A step stool or ladder (preferably one for each side of the
television)
7.. A level
8.. A drill
9.. A screw driver
10.. A pencil
11.. A hammer
12.. Someone to help you lift the television onto the wall

The first thing to do is follow the instructions on hanging the plasma wall
mount. This will require you marking and drilling a few holes, making sure
that the bracket is completely and perfectly level before marking off. Be
sure to use the stud finder to find the beams. After you have the holes
marked and drilled, then you will need to hammer the molly’s, usually
supplied with the bracket into the wall (if you are sure that you have
landed all the holes on solid beams, then the bolts can probably be inserted
without molly’s). Then follow the suggested placement for the screws and
insert them through the bracket accordingly.

Next attach the brackets to the back of the television itself. You will see
that basically you will just screw them in, but be careful to place both
brackets on there the same way. Now, you will see that essentially all you
have to do is lift the television up and slide the hooks off the brackets
onto the lip of the wall mount. This is where you should have two to three
people securing the television. Once it is on the bracket it is just a
mater of tightening it to make sure that it stays secure.

Now, what you will do is hook your DVD or Blu Ray player up to your
television using the av cables, and of course be sure to hook up your cable
or satellite connection to these devices as well.

The last thing you need to do is set up the speakers. Getting the speakers
in place before connecting the wire is important. You need right, center
and left placement of speakers, remembering the purpose of surround sound is
to surround you with it. Once you have them placed where you want them, now
it is time to connect them. The most important thing to remember is to make
the connections from right to right and left to left. Crossing the
connections won’t provide you with as good of a sound experience.

Now, plug all the devices in and sit and enjoy. You have earned a break, at
least for a little while.
